Helping learners succeed, and making delivery easier for schools

Engaging resources, dedicated Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) support and a fully managed service for secondary schools across the UK.

Why it works

It began with two classes who had stopped turning up

Sweet was trialled with two Key Stage 4 classes in Wales, with pupils who were struggling with attendance and behaviour. The resources were mapped to a qualification, so the work they were already doing earned them credit.

Pearson endorsed the resources and they were mapped against the Welsh Baccalaureate Skills Certificate. Everything below is built on that result.

Personal Growth and Wellbeing
WorkSkills

What you get

Personal Growth and Wellbeing and WorkSkills are Pearson BTEC qualifications at Level 1 and Level 2. Both carry GCSE equivalency, and neither has an exam — learners are assessed on the workbooks they complete in class.

You get far more than a set of workbooks. Schemes of work, presentations, starters, plenaries and supporting materials come with them, designed around the realities of secondary classrooms and the needs of different learners.

A fully managed service

We take care of everything but the teaching

A Sweet centre does not run the qualification on its own. This is what the service covers.

Registration and admin

We register your learners and handle the paperwork around the qualification.

A named Internal Quality Assurer

Someone who knows your centre and answers when you call, not a ticket queue.

Verification to certification

Internal Quality Assurance, verification, claims and certificates, managed from start to finish.

Any setting

Mainstream schools, colleges, PRUs, alternative provision, youth services and specialist settings.

Free resources every term

Classroom materials on wellbeing, inclusion, Pride, Black History Month and mental health, at no cost.

Who we are

Ten people, and seven of them are Internal Quality Assurers. That is why a centre gets a named person who knows it, rather than a support queue.

The rest cover operations, quality and delivery, and design. Lindsay works in Welsh as well as English, so Welsh-medium centres are supported in the language they teach in.

The team are all educational professionals, with experience as teachers, tutors and department heads — so the people answering your questions have taught.
